Drivers inspect each truck in the TruckerPro Driver app against a checklist based on Canada’s Schedule 1. Each item is marked OK, minor or major, and you decide whether a major defect takes the truck out of service.

Out of service until a supervisor clears it
Drivers complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections in the TruckerPro Driver app instead of on a paper form that has to be collected, read and filed.
The checklist is based on the items in Schedule 1 of Canada’s National Safety Code Standard 13, the trip inspection schedule for trucks, tractors and trailers.
Each item is marked OK, minor or major, with notes, so a burnt-out marker lamp and an air leak at a brake chamber are never recorded the same way.
Every inspection records the odometer reading and the GPS location where the driver did it, so you know where the truck was checked and at what mileage.
An optional company rule requires a pre-trip inspection before pickup and a post-trip inspection before delivery. It stays off until you turn it on.
Turn on out-of-service blocking and a major defect puts the truck out of service until a supervisor clears it.
Inspection defects show on each vehicle’s risk register. When the safety manager opens T-114, the coupling defect from this morning’s pre-trip is there, and so is the lamp another driver marked minor last week. Small items that would get lost on a paper form stay attached to the truck they belong to.
With out-of-service blocking turned on, a major defect puts the truck out of service until a supervisor clears it, so the decision to put it back on the road is made by someone who has seen the defect. Deciding on the repair stays with your shop. On Pro, that is a work order your shop lead opens and assigns to a mechanic.
Trip inspections are one half of the job. The other half is the periodic inspection each unit needs to stay on the road, such as a CVIP in the provinces that use one or the annual inspection in the US. RigMD sends daily renewal alerts for these periodic inspections, as it does for registration, IRP cab cards, insurance and permits, from each unit’s fleet records.
Carriers based in Quebec work with SAAQ paperwork. On Premium, mechanics can record a PM inspection on the SAAQ forms, 6609A for trucks and 6648A for trailers, and print it as a PDF for the unit’s file. See which plan includes what on the pricing page.
How it works
Decide whether drivers must inspect before pickup and delivery, and whether a major defect blocks the truck.
In the Driver app, the driver marks each checklist item OK, minor or major and adds notes where needed.
The inspection keeps the odometer and GPS location, and its defects appear on the vehicle’s risk register.
With blocking on, a truck held for a major defect stays out of service until a supervisor clears it.

It is based on Canada’s Schedule 1 items, the trip inspection list for trucks, tractors and trailers in National Safety Code Standard 13. Each item is marked OK, minor or major, with notes.
Only if you want them to. The company rule that requires a pre-trip inspection before pickup and a post-trip inspection before delivery is off until you turn it on.
When your company turns on out-of-service blocking, yes: the truck goes out of service until a supervisor clears it. With blocking off, the defect is still recorded and shows on the vehicle’s risk register.
Your shop. A reported defect stays on the inspection and the vehicle’s risk register. On Pro, your shop lead opens a work order for the repair and assigns it.
On Premium. Mechanics can record a PM inspection on the SAAQ forms 6609A (truck) and 6648A (trailer) and print it as a PDF.
Starter includes driver pre-trip and post-trip inspections, the optional inspection rule, out-of-service blocking and defects on the risk register. The Quebec SAAQ forms are on Premium. See pricing.
